2440368 - Error 5066 when running shrink db 'alter database off' command - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Using the 'shrink database' command 'alter database off' option to remove a device
  • The command returns error 5066:

1> alter database my_db off my_device 
2> go

Msg 5066, Level 16, State 1: Server 'ASE', Line 1:
Table 'my_table' contains off-row columns that do not link back to their owning rows.
Run dbcc shrinkdb_setup to set up back links for this database.
