2441366 - SQLSTATE = S1010 [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Function sequence error - SAP PB

Symptom

  • An ODBC connection to connect to Microsoft SQL Server 14 and using UPDATEBLOB is resulting in the following error:
    • SQLSTATE = S1010 [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Function sequence error. 
  • This error occurs when using SQLNCLI1.dll, ODBC 13 (MSODBCSQL13.dll) and ODBC 11 (MSODBCSQL11.dll) drivers. 
  • A SNC SQL Native Client connection works as expected with no error 
  • Blob column defined as varbinary(max)
  • The pbodb126.ini in the correct init path has been updated with the following:
    • PBMaxBlobSize='2147483647'
    • PBMaxTextSize='2147483647'
