Symptom
Unable to create a new position, getting error as position is not a valid association
Environment
Employee Central - Position Management
Reproducing the Issue
Goto Manage Positions > Create New Position > Save > error pops up
Cause
- Assigning Position to Job sync rule under Configure Object Definitions > Position object will not work and can lead to these issues.
- Position to Job sync rule is not assigned under Manage Business Conifguration > Job Information > Position field.
Resolution
The Position to Job sync rule's IF condition is: IF Job Information's Position is not equal to null. This logic requires a particular employee's Job Information> Position field access.
This is not possible if you associate this rule under Position Object Definition for the context employee.
Hence, for propagation of values from Position to Job Information, the sync rule should be attached to the jobInfo's Position field.
These information are provided in EC Position Management Implementation guide too.
