Resolution
For the Update scenario, first Export the data for the respective Data Workbench Object. Thereafter, use the same file and modify data in the respective fields without changing the headers.
The standard behavior in Data Workbench is that, irrespective of whether the all the fields have relevant data to upload or not, all the column headers must be part of the Update file. Do not delete any Column headers. Header check is implemented to ensure the user does not upload a corrupt file or some other object's file.
Steps to export data:
- Go to Data Workbench workcenter
- Go to Export tab
- In the search field, select the Object XYZ for which you want to export
- Choose appropriate filters if required
- Select Next
- Select Export Data
Steps to download the exported file:
- Go to Monitor view
- Download the exported file from the respective Task
- Save the file
- Modify the data in the required fields
- Save the file
Now update/modify the required fields and perform the Update of the Object XYZ using the same file.
Steps to upload file in the Update view:
- Go to Data Workbench workcenter
- Go to Import tab
- Select the radio button for Individual Object
- Go to Update tab (Important: Notice that you must not select "Use Known IDs" checkbox when using Object ID. Select it only if you must use known IDs).
- Select the object XYZ for which you want to update data
- Select Next
- Browse for the file
- Select Upload
- Choose Next to review the summary of your selection
- Select Import
- Go to Monitor view to check the status of your import
