2444184 - Setting up a linked server connection between MS SQL and SAP HANA

Symptom

You want to use SAP HANA database as a datasource for a MS SQL Server database through Linked Servers.

Please be aware that MS SQL linked server connections to SAP HANA are not officially supported. Following the below steps might work but SAP does not provide support for problems caused by the usage of MSDASQL provider while connecting to HANA, which maybe bad performance or OPENTEXT SQL errors but is not limited to this problems. As an alternative you can use SAP HANA Smart Data Access which is explaind in SAP Note 2180119.
