2445188 - Slowness in Position Search field for MDF Positions - Succession Management

Users experience slowness when searching on the auto-complete Position Search field, which is available when you have MDF Positions. The Position Search field is available in the Succession Org Chart, Manage Positions Admin Center page, Talent Search Nomination dialog and Add Nomination dialog if you have separate user and position search feature.

The auto-complete Position Search field performs the search on all fields configured as Searchable fields for the Position object. Therefore, the performance of the search decreases as additional Searchable fields are configured, on top of position title and position code.

This auto-complete Position Search field is a central control from the MDF framework. So far, the search logic behind this field checks the content of all fields that were configured as “Searchable Fields” in Admin Center > Configure Object Definitions > Object Definition: “Position”. Therefore, the performance of the search decreases as additional Searchable fields are configured, on top of position title and position code.

To optimize this position search, there should be as few searchable fields as possible in this configuration. However, if a customer is using Position Tile View, this may not be a feasible option, since working with Position Tile View is most efficient for HR users, esp. HR generalists, if they have additional (customer-specific) filters. Therefore, there is an MDF framework enhancement available as of Q4 2016 (XAF-12389, PTCH-25135), which will limit the position search auto-complete field to search for position ID/title only, and will ignore other searchable fields, which have been configured in Configure Object Definitions. To activate this enhancement, you can follow the below steps:

1. Admin Center > Manage Data > Create New: "Object Configuration".
2. Choose Object Type: "Position".
3. Set "disable SearchableFieldsConfigInAutoComplete" to "Yes". 
4. Save. 

Note: This setting does not impact the field “Keyword Search” within the Filter panel of Position Tile view. For this field, all fields defined as searchable fields in the MDF object definition will still apply.
