2447283 - Error 2 opening /proc/20451/lwp/17/lwpusage - ks_falloc: Cannot allocate using ubfalloc - shutdown hanging - SAP ASE

• Receiving the following errors when running "SELECT * from monThread" or sp_sysmon:

Error 2 opening /proc/21531/lwp/43/lwpusage

• The following messages during the ASE startup could also occur. Not all engines come online.
  These are examples of 3 different types of errors may be seen, all of which involve the ks_falloc routine:
   
• No memory for Network Buffers bucket pool growth (113725440 bytes)
  ks_falloc: Cannot allocate using ubfalloc(rnetmempool, 32).
  Initialization of RSA algorithm for network password encryption failed, algorithm is not available for password encryption.
  Encryption provider initialization failed on engine 22.
  Server layer intialization failed for engine 22
   
• ks_falloc: Cannot allocate using ubfalloc(rnetmempool, 32).
  Initialization for the SHA algorithm failed, authentication and on-disk password encryption will not work.
  Encryption provider initialization failed on engine 2.
  Server layer intialization failed for engine 2
   
• ks_falloc: Cannot allocate using ubfalloc(rnetmempool, 48).
  SSL or Crypto Error Message: 'sybcsi_profile_create'.
  SSL or Crypto Error Message: 'csi_cipher_setup'.
  Encryption provider initialization failed on engine 4.
  Server layer intialization failed for engine 4

Note:  The above file(s) are not created as expected when engine(s) fail to come online.  These errors will continue until the server is booted and all engines come online. 

• The server will not shutdown normally - even when given a "shutdown with nowait". The "kill -9" OS command is needed to bring the ASE server down. 
   
• Example of messages seen while shutdown is hanging:

Warning: The internal timer is not progressing. If this message is generated multiple times, report to Sybase Technical Support and restart the server (alarminterval=-728).
 
SSL or Crypto Error Message: 'None of the configured profile providers supply the specified profile 'SessionPasswordProfile'.
SSL or Crypto Error Message: 'None of the configured profile providers supply the specified profile 'OnDiskPasswordProfile'.
