2449971 - EPM Add-in hangs after installing Microsoft update KB3178690

Symptom

  • After applying Microsoft (MS) security update KB3178690 when a report or input schedule that uses multiple models is refreshed MS Excel 2010 will stop responding.
  • Error message: "Error in refresh sheet - External component has thrown an exception" when refreshing a workbook
  • EPM add-in template may generate the message "Restoring Excel Calculations" and Excel hangs.
  • Excel freezes and eventually it has to be termintated from Task Manager.
