2450976 - How to load chart templates in Crystal Reports

Symptom

  • The user defined tab of the chart Load Template function (on chart) is empty

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2008
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2011
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2013
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2016

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open Crystal Reports
  2. Create a report with a chart
  3. Right click on the chart >> Load Template
  4. Go to "User defined" tab
  5. Observe, that there are no templates, and no option to add one

Cause

  • The user defined chart templates have to be placed in a specific folder

Resolution

  1. Place the previously saved chart templates to:
    %UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Business Objects\Crystal Reports 2013\ChartSupport\Templates\User Defined

  2. The templates placed here, will be shown in the user defined tab:
    ChartType.png
