Symptom

  • ASE is experiencing frequent deadlocks in PI Performance Monitor table SAPSR3DB.XI_AF_PROF_PERF_AC
  • Running update statistics or sp_recompile greatly improves performance, but for only a short time
  • Sample SQLText involved in deadlock from sybase log:
    Deadlock Id ## detected
    SQL Text:  DELETE FROM "XI_AF_PROF_PERF_AC" WHERE "PERIOD_TYPE" = ? AND "BEGIN_TIMESTAMP" < ?
