Symptom

The objective of this guide is to route user to the information that they need to solve the error as quickly as possible to minimize the time to solution.

Scope of this guide:

  1. This guide covers the SV-SMG-INS* component which is mainly responsible for errors when using transaction SOLMAN_SETUP and only for the following scenarios:
    • System Preparation
    • Infrastructure Preparation
    • Basic Configuration
    • Managed Systems Configuration
    • EarlyWatch Alert Management
  2. For other scenarios, please check note 2113602 section 4 Other Scenarios for the relevant components.
  3. For installation errors please start a chat or open an incident under the component BC-INS.
  4. For upgrade errors please start a chat or open an incident under component BC-UPG-TLS-TLA (for ABAP) or BC-UPG-TLS-TLJ (for Java).
  5. For error in transaction SPAM or SAINT please start a chat or open an incident under component BC-UPG-OCS.

How to use this guide:

  • This guide is for SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SP Stack 3 and above, because the older stack level are for Early Adoption Care and is not covered by this guide.
  • If you have executed "Apply Recent Corrections" step in SOLMAN_SETUP, please ensure you have applied the latest version of central notes because those notes included in the central note may be omitted.
  • This guide covers most of the common issues, but not every single steps and activities in the scenarios.
  • We try to provide the relevant component for the step or activity that is out of SV-SMG-INS* scope, so that you could use it to open a chat or an incident to avoid unnecessary rerouting to different component queue which will cause delay.
