2453277 - How to remove Custom Dataset option in Dashboard 2.0

Symptom

  • This article explains how to configure dashboards to show dataset groups only and not allow selection of individual datasets on Custom Dataset option.
  • Users are able to select datasets in the dashboard filters that they should not have access to.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to SuccessFactors;
  2. Access Reporting tab (Report Center);
  3. Run any Dashboard;
  4. Access the filter option;
  5. See the option 'Custom Dataset" which grants access to all datasets;
  6. You want to remove it to ensure that end-users will only have access to specific datasets.

Resolution

By default, all users running a Dashboard will have access to the filter option. With that said, they will also have access to change the datasets of this specific Dashboard by clicking on 'Custom Dataset'. In order to avoid users from having access to all datasets you can remove the 'Custom Dataset' option from the Filters.

To do that, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Admin Center> Tools > Search for Manage Dashboards

  2. Click on 'Manage Dashboard Filters':

  3. Choose 'Dataset Groups' from the drop down list and 'Save'.
