2457359 - Could not log on to BIP server

Below warning message occurs when logon to SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform with an SAP user that have an initial password or user account not in validity date.

• Could not log on to BIP server; You must change your password
• Could not log on to BIP server; Failed while trying to log on user XXX. RFC error: " Number:000 (USER_OUTSIDE_VALIDITY)" (FWM 00013)

• SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office
• SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform 4.X

1. Initialize password for an SAP user in SAP NetWeaver Server or an user account not in validity date
2. Start Analysis for Office
3. Click "Insert Data Source" button  -> "Select Data Source" or Click "File" button  -> "Anlysis" tab -> "Open Workbook" -> "Open workbook from the  SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform "
4. On the "Logon to SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform" screen ->input logon information of the SAP user (Authentication is SAP)
5. Click "OK" button, messages listed in section Symptom are displayed.

This is caused by limitation of SAP BI Platform,BI Platform cannot change password for SAP user or maintain validity date  for SAP user. So it is not possible for Analysis Office ( or other BW front-end tools) that is directly connected to BIP to do this, either.

This limitation of SAP BI Platform is described in KBA 2207079.

1. This is the limitation of BIP, you must change password or maintain user account validity date in ways below:

• For initial password,you must change password by using SAP GUI or other BW client tools (such as Analysis for Office) that is connected to BW, to change the initial password.
• For user account not in validity date,you must maintain user validity date by using SAP GUI.
