2457386 - Cannot Activate Fixed Asset due to Open Task: Review and Release the Changes of Low Value Asset XYZ in Set of Books ABC

You have created a Low Value Asset XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the Fixed Asset) as a collection of, for example office furniture. The Low Value Asset XYZ has an acquisition cost greater than the Capitalization Threshold for Fixed Assets set by you in the Business Configuration.

While trying to post this Low Value Asset XYZ, you get a Business Task assigned: Review and Release the Changes of Low Value Asset XYZ in Set of Books ABC (ABC represents the ID of the Set of Books).

1. Go to Fixed Assets work center.
2. Select Fixed Assets sub view in Fixed Asset view.
3. Search and select Fixed Asset XYZ.
4. The Fixed Asset is capitalized but has an open task: Review and Release the Changes of Low Value Asset XYZ in Set of Books ABC.

You can check the Capitalization Threshold in Business Configuration as follows:

1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
2. Select Overview view.
3. In Overview, search and select Activity Capitalization Threshold for Fixed Assets.
4. Click Open.

Here you can see the different Accounting Principles and underneath it the Threshold Values. For every Accounting Principle you can define the Minimum Amount and Maximum Amount for an Asset to be considered as a Low Value Asset.

According to the Help Document, Task – Review and Release Changes to Low Value Asset in Set of Books, if the acquisition cost of an asset is above the limit of a low value asset set using Activity: Capitalization Threshold for Fixed Assets in Business Configuration, you must review the master data of the fixed asset. Changes to low value assets must be reviewed for correctness.

You can either redefine the Capitalization Threshold or you can change the status of the Fixed Asset from a low value asset to a normal asset.

But, if you do not want to make any changes as mentioned in the Help Document and want to post the Fixed Asset as a Low Value Asset while keeping its higher acquisition cost, then you can set the task to complete.

You can do this as follows:

1. Go to Fixed Assets work center.
2. Select Work view.
3. Search and select the Business Task: Review and Release the Changes of Low Value Asset XYZ in Set of Books ABC.
4. Click on the Actions button.
5. In the drop down for Actions, click on Complete.
6. Now you can see that for Fixed Asset XYZ, the task has been removed and the Fixed Asset is activated.
