2458271 - Entry Date Fields Change after Manager Update Via Mass Change Tool or Off Cycle Batch Event

Symptom

When carrying out  a data change via the Mass Change Tool or an Off Cycle Batch Event,  the Entry Date Fields (Job Entry Date, Position Entry Date, Location Entry Date etc.) are updated to null.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental

Environment

Employee Central 2.0

Cause

This is caused by the configuration of the fields and the logic used behind these two features which is the import framework.

These fields are defined as read only fields (visibility = view) but the "Allow Import" setting is set to No.

These two feature use the NO_OVERWRITE logic of the import framework for fields which are not defined in the change. The NO_OVERWRITE logic is not applied to read only fields with allow import = NO. In order for the value to be propagated from the pervious record the field has to be changed to Allow Import = Yes

Resolution

Via Manage Business Configuration, view details of the "Entry Date" fields being impacted and set "Allow Import" value to true.
