Under the compensation information section you have a field called "Annual Salary" that displays the annual compensation for the employee, in this field there is an Icon "?" where you click to see the details about what is part of this annual salary.
Your are seeing that when you click in this icon you can see the pay components that is part of this employee's remuneration which is monthly but the value displayed is the annual sum, please refer to the image below to get the context.
You can observe the same behavior if you have the Total Compensation History dashboard.
