2462126 - Getting the security warning "ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID" while accessing SAP through the browser

Symptom

When accessing SAP through the browser (e.g., /irj/portal, /nwa, /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui, Fiori) with HTTPS protocol, the security warning "Your Connection is not Private" is displayed.

"NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID"

In Firefox the error is "SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER".

In EDGE, following information can be experienced:

"Your connection to this site isn't secure
Don't enter any sensitive information on this site ..."
