2462416 - Error 11060 "This statement has exceeded the maximum number of recompilations" with nested views - SAP ASE

Symptom

When selecting from a view and the view depends on another view this can cause an 11060 error if anything causes the views to be recompiled such as altering a column definition in the base table:

Msg 11060, Level 16, State 1:
Server <server>, Procedure 'p1', Line 1:
This statement has exceeded the maximum number of recompilations (10). This indicates an internal error.
Please note the error prior to this one and contact SAP Technical Support.
(return status = -6)

NOTE: This Can happen within a stored procedure  or a standalone query
