Symptom
- SAP ASE processes like REORG, UPDATE STATISTICS or CREATE INDEX on hyper-partitioned tables, terminate.
- Corresponding error in the ASE errorlog is a timeslice error in the module stu_findslot() together with a stack trace:
timeslice -1501, current process infected at 0x10836de (stu_findslot+0x15e)
- The stack trace includes the following functions:
stu_findslot
stat_frequency_reduction
stat_tuning_factor_reduction
stio_xformvirtual
st_writestatistics
sysstatistics_write

- The optdiag utility shows one or more histograms with a step count in the thousands for the table involved.
- On SAP BW systems, the offending tables are Infocube Fact tables contain more than 1000 partitions
