2464128 - Connection Error in SM59: You cannot use the gateway as proxy for this connection

Symptom

When performing a Connection Test on an RFC destination related to a registered program in the transaction SM59, the following output is raised:

Connection Error

Error when opening an RFC connection (CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPOCMINIT', communication

ERROR: You cannot use the gateway as a proxy for this connection
...

RETURN CODE: 750

E.g.. The following picture shows the results of the Connection Test on the RFC destination SOLMANDIAG:

Note: This case is not exclusive to this destination. Other RFC destinations can present the same message.

At an SAP NetWeaver Java system, the corresponding error logs would look like below:
