Symptom
The Candidate has a job agent search saved with defined search terms but the job alert email received does not match the job agent search terms.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Marketing
Reproducing the Issue
- In the job page, add the desired keywords and location and click on Create Alert
- Select the desired frequency
- Save the job alert
- The user will receive the job alert notification containing jobs that do not match the keywords/locations configured
Cause
The notifications content is not solely determined by the selected keywords.
Resolution
The job agent looks not only in the title and description of the jobs for a match to the search terms. It also looks to match the term as a category, and also looks at populated segments in the jobs if enabled.
Keep in mind though, that in general, the policy that has influenced the agent processing and system has been that it is smart to err on a broader set of job results for a candidate, rather than a restricted set.
We enforce this policy and encourage broad job agents as this then means candidates receive broader options in their email updates, encouraging visits back to the site even for vaguely relevant jobs.
This is all designed to increase traffic which is the main goal of RMK sites.
This explains why the results might appear unrelated.
