2464854 - ODBC Database Connector Error with Access in Crystal Reports

Symptom

  • When creating Crystal report against MS Access database through ODBC connection the following error occures:
Database Connector Error: '22007:[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Invalid datetime format on column number 3 (F3) [Database Vendor Code: 35 ]'
    ODBCError.png
(The column number may be different)

Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2008
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2011
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2013
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2016
  • MS Access 2007

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create 32bit ODBC connection against a MS Access 2007 database
  2. Create a CR report against the connection
  3. Insert text field >> data is shown correctly
  4. Insert date time field >> error occures
  5. Open MS Excel
  6. Go to data >> connection wizard >> select the ODBC connection
  7. Observe the same error message

Cause

  • The error is happening at the ODBC driver level
  • The date time field should have date time records only (05/06/2017 00:00:00), but it has records with wrong values such as:
    • empty values
    • date without time (05/06/2017)
    • time only (00:00:00)

Resolution

  • Clean/repair the data

OR

  • Set the field type to text in MS Access
