2465780 - Variants are disabled when working with HANA data sources

When working with HANA data sources in Analysis for Office, the variant input is disabled with the message "This variant mode is not supported by the back end".

SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office

1. Try to save a variant (in Data Source mode) for a HANA data source in Analysis for Office;
2. Confirm that the variant input is disabled.

It is not possible to save variant in Data source mode for HANA data sources. Variants in Data source mode are only supported for BW data sources.

There are two modes when working with variants:

• Data source mode
• Document mode

Starting from Analysis Office 2.4 and BI platform 4.2 SP4, it is possible to save the variant in Document mode in BI platform for HANA and BW data sources. See all the prerequisites also in User Guide.
