How to generate a report that shows the last status a candidate was placed in?

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management

The data would come from fields under the column "App Status Audit Trail". You can select the fields "Application status" and "Is current status" to know the candidate's current application status.

The field "Is Current Status" displays 'YES' , it means that this is the status where the candidate is currently placed.

You could add a filter to the report, to include only the records where 'Is Current Status' is 'YES'
