Symptom

In PI system, you found message processing failed in the mapping step. The mapping failed with the following error:

The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed.
com.sap.aii.utilxi.misc.api.BaseRuntimeException: The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed.

The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed.

While from ESR, the mappoing test failed with same error.
