2469119 - Cannot Search Learning by Competency

When a user wants to add a learning activity to the development plan searching by competency, it appears this message:

There are no items associated with this competency.

3. Click on the Add Learning Activity link
4. No option to 'Search by Competency' is displayed

Such issue can have a number of causes, usually related to configuration:

1. invalid XML configuration of the Development PLan XML
2. Competencies not mapped to job roles in Bizx
3. Competencies not imported in LMS
4. Competencies not mapped to items in LMS
5. Items with related competencies not available to user's catalog
6. Discrepancy between Competency data in LMS compared to BizX

In this particular case, the issue was due to an incorrect XML configuration:

• In this screenshot, notice that the Development plan is configured to only account for competencies included in a particular library, but exclude any competencies associated with roles or forms in Bizx.
• Because the competencies included in the library are the same as the competencies associated with a role and the template is configured to exclude them, the application does not bring up any competencies.
• Per the documentation available here, you can only choose to include/exclude competency from one type, not all.

Remove the competency filter on roles from the Development Plan XML.

1. Provisioning > search for the company ID
2. Managing Plan Template > Import/Update/Export Development plan Templates
3. export the default template

Note:

• The Search by Competency feature is only supported for systems with LMS integrated and employees must have Learning access permission.
• The Search by Competency feature is not supported for use with behaviors.
• If you do not have access to Provisioning, consult your Integration Partner.
• If you do not have a partner please submit an support incident using component LOD-SF-CDP.

Note on Search by Competency link in the Career Worksheet:

• When competencies are mapped to a Role in the Career Worksheet the link will be available for users by default - with LMS integrated. It is not possible to remove this link, without removing the Competency to Role mapping. 
• In Development plan, the Search by Competency link will appear once Competencies have been mapped to a Development Goal. Then the link will appear by default. The only way to remove the link is to remove the Competency to Development Goal mapping.
