2472135 - ASE Upgrade fails on AIX with : Cannot open or remove a file containing a running program - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • An upgrade of ASE on AIX fails with message "The installation failed"
  • The Installer logs contain messages "Cannot open or remove a file containing a running program"
  • For example, in /$SYBASE/log/ASE_Suite.log

    Install File:          /$SYBASE/ASE-15_0/bin/backupserver
                              Status: ERROR
                              Additional Notes: ERROR - Flexeraal3: /$SYBASE/ASE-15_0/bin/backupserver (Cannot open or remove a file containing a running program.)

    Install File:          /$SYBASE/OCS-15_0/lib3p/libsybcsi_core29_32.so
                              Status: ERROR
                              Additional Notes: ERROR - Flexeraal3: /$SYBASE/OCS-15_0/lib3p/libsybcsi_core29_32.so (Cannot open or remove a file containing a running program.)
