2472229 - Import Development Goals/Objectives with Learning Activities

Symptom

  • Is it possible to import Learning Activities from the LMS catalog?
  • How to mass delete Development Goals
  • Importing Development Goals/Objectives with associated Learning Activities results in the Learning Activities not displaying

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Career Development Planning
  • SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Reproducing the Issue

  • When using the tool Import Development Goals/Objectives, download the CSV header and complete it with Development Goals/Objectives and Learning Activities.
  • After importing, notice the Goals have been imported, but not the associated Learning Activities.

Resolution

Importing Learning Activities with Development Objectives is only available for customers that have enabled the "Transcript" feature, which is the integration between CDP (Career Development Plan) and LMS (Learning Management System); however, it is only possible to Add/Update/Delete Custom Learning Activities. It is not possible to perform any actions on Learning Activities from the LMS catalog.

Overview of the column content for the Import for Learning Activities:

  • To import Learning Activities, the TYPE should be LEARNING.
  • GUID is the GUID of objective and SUBGUID is the GUID of the learning activity.
  • For the ADD action, leave SUBGUID, and the LEARNING_guid blank and the system will automatically generate a value starting with MANUAL$.
  • When adding Learning Activities, you should also indicate the GUID of the Development Goal/Objective that the activity should be associated with.
  • You can add, delete and update all custom learning activities.
  • You cannot perform an add on a catalog learning activity.
  • When the Enable SuccessFactors Learning integration option is enabled, Catalog Learning from the Learning Management System cannot be updated or deleted.

Importing a Learning Catalog from LMS to BizX is not possible.

Note 1:

  • Importing Learning Activities to a 'Completed Goal' will not work. You need to change the goal status to 'In Progress' or 'Not Started' and then import.
  • If importing to a manually added goal, you can use the 'Goal ID' instead of the GUID. Manually added goals do not have GUID's (only import ones have this).

Note 2:

  • If you wish to mass delete Development Goals you can only do it with the Development Goal Import tool from Admin Center.
  • In the 'ACTION' column of the import file, you can add 'DELETE' to delete the Development Goal. See KBA on importing in reference section below.

Note 3:

  • The purpose of the complete_date field in the import file, is to record the status change date and will not show the date a learning activity was completed. We recommend not granting 'write' permissions for this field.
  • Customer's can add a custom field to record the date they want to show as the completed date.

Note 4:

  • If the custom Learning Activity is associated to more than one Development Goal, the connection of the Learning Activity to the multiple Development Goals will be broken during import.
  • The expected use case of a Development Goal and a custom Learning Activity is a 1:1 relationship.
