2472453 - Group Goal Not Affected by Write Permissions

Symptom

  • This KB article references group goals and how they are affected by "write" permissions on the XML template
  • The "write" permissions for a field are removed for everyone in the XML template file
  • Group goals and team goals creation can still be edited in the field

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Goal Management

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a new team or group goal
  2. Establish the creator can edit a field that should be "read-only"

Cause

  • Both group and team goals behave differently than other goal plans. They are not affected by the write permissions in the goal plan XML template
  • The only write permission is with the "cascade-update" field, which determines if those who had the goal assigned to them can edit fields. The creator of the goal can still edit fields regardless of this setting

Resolution

For each field-definition tag in the XML template:

  • Set cascade-update to "push-down" if only the creator of the goal plan can edit the goal field
  • Set cascade-update to "regular" if the assignee of the goal plan can and will be able to edit the goal field

Note:

  • There is no setting to prevent the creator from editing a goal field.
  • If cascade-update is set to "push-down" it will follow the group goal permission on the goal plan
  • If cascade-update is set to "regular" it will follow the regular field permissions on the goal plan
