Symptom

  • The processes are in sleeping state and has the open transactions.
  • On running the below command, we can see the process is the long running process and in sleeping state
  • dbcc traceon(3604)
    go
    dbcc stacktrace(<SPID>)
    go

    dbcc stacktrace finished
     
  • The sp_who output shows the status as sleeping
     fid          spid             status                           loginame                         blk_spid                         cmd   
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
       0            XXX             sleeping                         NULL                             NULL         XXXXXXXXXXX
  • systransaction shows the SPID entry.
  • Even if you kill the process the process may not be killed normally.
