Symptom
"Show connections" dialog does not display the list of systems from the server configuration file, even if they are visibile in SAP Logon.
"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."
Environment
SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office
Reproducing the Issue
- Open SAP Logon and navigate to Sap Logon Options -> Server Configuration Files.
- Define own XML Configuration File on Server.
- Set flag to 'Allow caching of server configuration files'.
- Apply the settings and reopen SAP Logon.
- Start Analysis for Office.
- Click on 'Insert Data Source' or use 'Open workbook from platform' option.
- The list of SAP systems is not displayed. If local systems are defined, then only local systems are in the list.
Cause
This is caused by the COM API (application programming interface)
Resolution
- Open regedit.exe. Navigate to the path and define the following parameter:
- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\SAP\SAPLogon]
- "LandscapeFormatEnabled"=dword:00000001
- This forces SAP Logon to use .xml files instead of .ini (all previously defined SAP systems will be placed to .xml file).
- For more details refer to the following Support Content page: BI-RA-AO-CON Connection and Authentication.
- Navigate to the path and set the folowing parameter to "False":
- c:\ProgramData\SAP\Cof\Ao_app.config
- <UseSapUILandscapeComApi value="False"/>
- This forces AO to use its own parsing logic to read the list of systems. Check KBA 2083067 for information on how to maintain settings in AO.
- Make sure that 'Allow caching of server configuration files' flag is set.
