2476128 - Error When Scoping Different Countries

Symptom

You are trying to scope one of the following countries:

South Africa - ZA
Zambia - ZM
Zimbabwe - ZW

And errors are occurring during the creation of the change project.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center and access the view Implementation Projects
  2. Click on New
  3. Select the option Add Country and select one of the countries mentioned above
  4. Go through the scoping of the change project and click on Finish
  5. See the error messages.

Cause

The error messages are most likely occurring because of the several custom objects that may have been created using these countries abbreviations.

In SAP Business ByDesign, all custom objects are required to start with the letter Z, and the abbreviation for these countries, as well as for their standard objects, starts with the letter Z.

If you have created Time Types for Canada, for example, using ZA, then there will be a conflict when creating a change project for South Africa.

In future releases, there will be a warning message informing about these conflicts.

Resolution

It is only possible to avoid such conflicts by not creating custom Time Types or other objects with the same abbreviations as the mentioned countries.
