2479506 - CREATE ROLE raises Error 2901: Exception stack limit exceeded. - SAP ASE 16.0 on AIX

Symptom

  • A simple CREATE ROLE command fails with the following errors on two ASE 16.0 SP02 PL04 servers: 
     
    Number (2901) Severity (19) State (1) Server (ASE_DEV) Exception stack limit exceeded. Transaction aborted.
    Number (2901) Severity (19) State (1) Server (ASE_DEV) Exception stack limit exceeded. Transaction aborted.
     
  • The same CREATE ROLE commands completes successfully on many other ASE servers with the same version.
  • The number of databases in two affected ASE servers is 76 and 239.
  • The number of databases on other ASE servers where the problem does not exist is 70 or lower.
  • This issue is not seen when the impacted ASE runs with the diagserver binary.
