2481524 - Page N of M displays incorrectly when used in a shared variable

Symptom

After saving the value of the Page N of M field in a shared variable, using that value in a sub-report does not display the correct page number.  It only displays the last page number of the report.

Environment

  • Crystal Reports Java 12.2.221
  • Crystal Reports 2008

Cause

Because the Page N of M field requires the entire report to be rendered before it can display a shared value, the value displayed in the sub-report will be the value calculated at the end of the report.

Resolution

To display the correct page N of M value, place the N of M field in a page footer or header in the main report.

Note: Some versions of the report designer will display the correct page number - however this is incorrect behavior.
