2481959 - "non-working day" alert missing when Class is scheduled for a Holiday

Symptom

At the moment of creating a class on a holiday date, the system doesn't show the "non-working day" alert.

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Reproducing the Issue

There are two ways to reproduce the issue.

a) In the Learning admin side, go to an Instructor-Led or Instructor-Led with Online Content type of item:

  1. Select Actions > Schedule
  2. Add the Start Date and Start Time
  3. select Preview button
  4. The "non-working day" alert will not appear.

b) In the Learning admin side, go to an Instructor-Led or Instructor-Led with Online Content type of item:

  1. Select Actions > Schedule
  2. Add the Start Date and Start Time
  3. Add the desired Facility
  4. The "non-working day" alert will not appear.

Cause

  • For scenario a) : Facility with the correct Holiday profile is not selected
  • For scenario b) : Facility either does not have a Holiday profile or the Holiday profile does not include this date as a holiday

Resolution

Scenario a):

To receive the "non-working day" alert it is necessary to select the desired Facility under the Class Information section. Only based on that the system can check if the date inserted is a holiday to that Facility or not. If it is, then the alert will come up.

Scenario b):

Even after inserting a holiday date and selecting the desired Facility, the "non-working day" alert still does not come up. In order to fix it, there are two settings that need to be checked in the system:

First configuration that requires a review:

  1. In the Learning admin side, search for References > Calendars & Time > Holiday Profiles
  2. Search for the desired profile and open it in Edit mode
  3. Click the Holidays tab and take a look at the list of registered holidays
  4. If the expected holiday is not on the list yet, it is necessary to either add it by clicking on 'add one or more from the list' or, if you do not find it in the list of existing holidays then it is necessary to create it first under References > Calendars & Time > Holidays > Add New
  5. As soon as the holiday is part of the Holiday Profile, the "non-working day" alert will come up once this date is selected in the Start Date field of the class creation page and the system will offer to schedule the class for the first working day that comes after the selected start date

Second configuration that requires a review:

  1. In the Learning admin side, search for References > Physical Resources > Facilities
  2. Search for the desired facility and open it in Edit mode
  3. Check if the Holiday Profile box is filled out with a profile
  4. If it is empty like on the below screenshot, populate it with a profile and click Apply Changes
