2482321 - How to start the utility database on SAP IQ 16.1 ? - SAP IQ

Symptom

  • The password for the utility database has been stored in the util_db.db file pre-SAP IQ 16.0.
  • But, the util_db.db file has been removed by the change of the specification from SAP IQ 16.1.
  • Therefore, the password must be set by using new database server option to start the utility database on SAP IQ 16.1.
  • If the utility database was started without the set of the password, connection to the utility database will return an error as shown below:
    1. Start the utility database:
      start_iq -n utility
       
    2. Connection failed with an interactive SQL (dbisql):
      dbisql -c "uid=DBA;pwd=sql;eng=utility;dbn=utility_db" -nogui

      Could not connect to the database.
      Unable to start specified database: unable to start database "utility_db"
      SQLCODE=-82, ODBC 3 State="08001"
