2482757 - E-mail and Fax Settings Activity Throws an Error When Trying to Send Test E-mail

An error is displayed when attempting to send a test e-mail using the Send Test E-Mail option in the E-Mail and Fax Settings activity of a newly created change project.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
2. Access Implementation Projects view.
3. Select the newly created change project and Open Activity List.
4. In the Fine-Tuning phase, search for the activity E-mail and Fax Settings.
5. Open the activity and select Send Test E-Mail.
   An error is displayed when attempting to send the test e-mail.

This error is due to one of the following reasons:

Cause 1: The change project is configured to proceed without a test tenant.

Cause 2: The requested test tenant is not yet available.

Cause 3: The activity E-mail and Fax Settings -> Send Test E-mail is not a configuration element, but a test activity and it cannot be performed unless the changes in the change project are merged with production. This activity is only used after the changes in the scoping/fine-tuning are merged.

 

Resolution for cause 1: Close the E-Mail and Fax Settings activity and continue with the change project without a test system. After the changes are merged into production, the activity will be reopened automatically and must be completed in the production system.

Resolution for case 2: To request a test system, go to the Implementation Projects view in the Business Configuration work center. Select your project, click Actions and Request System.
Note: This applies to all activities that have to be repeated (see the Repetition Required column)

Resolution for cause 3: Close the change project so that the maintained changes can be merged into the production system. Once the changes have been merged, access the E-Mail and Fax Settings activity in production and execute the Send Test E-Mail option.
