2482805 - Manager cannot add new absence for direct reports


When you select an employee and click on administer time and try to add a new absence you can see that the screen becomes dark and you cannot perform any actions.

You are using PP3.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. As a manager or admin, select any employee;
  2. Navigate to time off;
  3. Click on administer time;
  4. Click on New Absence;
  5. See the error;


For the object EmployeeTime object there are some conditional fields that cannot be hidden, if you doso, you will cause this error documented on this KBA.

Those fields are:

  • loaActualReturnDate;
  • loaExpectedReturnDate,
  • timeType;
  • startDate;
  • endDate;
  • undeterminedEndDate;
  • startTime;
  • endTime;


  1. Go to configure object definitions;
  2. Search for the object EmployeeTime;
  3. Click on take action>make correction;
  4. search for all the fields documented in the section Cause;
  5. for each of this fields click on details and check if Visibility is set as editable(they must be set as editable).
