Thumbnails are not displayed on the Products work list in RUI. (Not to be confused with custom icons that are supported).
Reproducing the Issue

Log on to RUI version of the system.

Go to the Products work center.

Set the view to Chunk View or Table View.
In RUI the Products OWL show blank blue circles where Thumbnails should be displayed.
Cause
This issue is currently a limitation both in Chunk View and Table View.
Resolution
Workaround: HTML5 does currently support the thumbnails in this view. So logging into the system in HTML5 and going to the Products list, thumbnails will be visible.
This functionality is in development's backlog and has been set for a future release.
