2486034 - Error M3853: Authorization BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA

Symptom

There is a problem with the SAP provided BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA, when attempting to update materials.

The BAPI is producing a false-positive authorization error M3853  "No authorization for this transaction" when specific user for example updates the material "country of origin".
