2488327 - WFA - Why does Input Analysis view table only show the latest child node of the time selected?

Symptom

  • Navigate to an input measure that is period of time (eg. External Hires)
  • Select Time Periods > Select the previous Quarter (eg. it is now June 2017 so select Q1 2017)
  • Top chart will show individual months of that quarter (eg. Jan 2017, Feb 2017, Mar 2017)
  • Bottom table will show results for the latest time period of the Top Chart (eg. Mar 2017)

Expectation might be that the table would show the results of the Time Period Node selected (eg. Q1 2017) instead of the latest node of that period.

Environment

Cause

The Input Analysis page has a specific time model that the whole page is based off. Product Management and Engineering have made this measure page as simplistic as possible so the table is always showing you the last period of the time model node selected.

The reason why this is the case is because the measure pages are intended to give a simplistic view of the latest data.

Resolution

For more in depth analysis, Query Workspace or Report Designer should be used.
