2490263 - New Position Not Showing in Drop Down - Concurrent Employment


  • Newly created position does not show up in drop down menu when adding a Concurrent Employment to active user
  • Future Dated positions are appearing during Hire and Transfer Events, but not during Add Concurrent Employment Event to an active user.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Manage Positions
  2. Create New Future Dated Position (in my example I use 8/1/2017)
  3. Save the Position
  4. Navigate to an active user you want to add a Future Concurrent Employment to
  5. Click Take Action > Select 'Add: Concurrent Employment'
  6. Input data into required fields for New Concurrent Employement > Click Continue
  7. Decide if this is a Secondary Employment, or if this will be a new Primary Employment for the user
  8. Enter Position Date (this will be the start date for the employee to start the new position)
  9. Attempt to select the new Position in the drop down menu Result: see that the new position does not populate


The issue has been identified and logged under JIRA ECT-75840.


Expected Behavior:

  • The position dropdown is always filtered based on hire date/effective start date of the record
  • If you create a Concurrent Employment (CE) with a future date, all positions that are valid on this date will be shown.
  • If the new position is valid later it will not be shown even if you select another value in position entry date.
  • The position has additional RBP filters; Only positions that the user is allowed to view are shown
  • If Company Filter is used: Only positions that have the same Company as the New Concurrent Employment are shown.
  • The company filter location: 
         'Position Management Settings' -> 'UI Customizing' tab -> "Use Company Filter for Positions in MSS Job Informatin and History"

There is currently no target release scheduled for this issue. It is being reviewed by Engineering.


  1. Navigate to Manage Positions
  2. Select Position in the first drop down
  3. Select the Newly Created Position
  4. Mouse over 'Take Action' > Select 'Make Correction'
  5. Change the 'Start Date' to '01/01/1900' (You need to use the Graphical interface for this)
  6. Scroll to bottom > Select Save
  7. Now, go back and add the new position as a future concurrent employment to the active user
