2490368 - Nameserver not running - failed to open shared memory. rc=3, os-error=2

Symptom

  • Daemon is started successfully, but Nameserver not running
  • Following command shows that Daemon is running, but all other processes are stopped 

    /usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/sapcontrol -nr <instance number> -function GetProcessList

  • Daemon trace shows entries of type:

    [127786]{-1}[-1/-1] 0000-00-00 00:00:00.000000 e ipc              TrexIpc.cpp(00462) : SHM_ATTACH failed: 3,2,No such file or directory
    [127786]{-1}[-1/-1] 0000-00-00 00:00:00.000000 e NameServer       TREXNameServer.cpp(00719) : failed to open shared memory. rc=3, os-error=2 (No such file or directory). disabling shared-memory
