Symptom
Some administrators are only able to see the first line of the Comments field content in the items and scheduled offerings records.
Reproducing the Issue
- Login to LMS Admin with an Administrator who has a role role which does not include the Edit Item workflow (but includes View Item workflow)
- Go to Learning and select an item or Scheduled Offering that has a Comment field filled in with more than one line
- Observe: only the first line is displayed and the administrator does not have any option to read the rest of the text in the field
Resolution
This behaviour cannot be changed currently. Engineering team has commented that due to capacity constraints, the comments pop-up was setup only for editing comments. For this reason the administrators will need the Edit Item workflow to view the comments that are more than one line long. There is currently no other workaround for this and the re-designing of this screen to allow this in View mode will be addressed in future releases when Development will update the Admin UI. This is currently in the road map for engineering team but no target date is yet available for this change.
Therefore, you will need to grand the Edit Item workflow to the administrators who need to see such comments.
