2496500 - Cannot retrieve the configuration structure corresponding to service name com.sap.security.core.ume.service

Upgrade using Software Update Manager(SUM) ends in error. The following is seen:

• An error occurred during the execution of Backup Original ABAP Server of action execute. Service com.sap.sdt.j2ee.services.servicesimpl.ABAPDestinationService failed with the following message:Could not determine the original RFC destination name from the UME service properties. Set properties on a service with name com.sap.security.core.ume.service fail.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

• And the log: BACKUP-ORIGINAL-ABAP_XX.LOG shows:                                                                                                com.sap.engine.lib.config.api.exceptions.ClusterConfigurationException: Cannot retrieve the configuration structure corresponding to service name com.sap.security.core.ume.service. com.sap.engine.frame.core.configuration.ConfigurationException: Internal error during the decryption process.                                com.sap.security.core.server.secstorefs.InvalidStateException: Internal error during the decryption process.javax.crypto.BadPaddingException: Invalid PKCS#5 padding length: 39

OR

Changes were made on the database settings under configtool but the configtool was closed before getting confirmation from the database that the changes made were successfully saved.
