2497078 - Field Default Value Length for Formatted Text

Symptom

When you try to set a default value for a field of type Formatted Rich Text and you get the error message: "Default value exceeds the allowed text length limit; reduce text length".

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Enter the Work Center;
  2. Enter the Facet;
  3. Click in Adapt;
  4. Click on Edit Master Layout;
  5. Place the mouce over the field;
  6. Select Properties and click on Field Definition;
  7. Click in Edit.

Cause

This is the expected behaviour.

Is not allowed any default values exceeding 80 characters in rich text. This limit includes all HTML tags like bold, color etc. Even though the visible text appears like within limit, if we use formatting and special control it will exceed 80 characters.

Ex:
If you want the value as “This is an Issue” using color and bold and other kind of formatting, the customization you have done will result in below HTML which has 80+ characters
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">This is an Issue</span></strong></p>

 

Resolution

Take in consideration the HTML tags when using formatted text. It cannot exceed 80 characters.
