Symptom

  • Users are unable to search for Private SAP Jam Groups
  • Private Group Admins would like users to be able to request access to their Groups

“Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.”

Environment

 SAP Jam Collaboration

Resolution

This is expected behavior, members must receive and accept an invitation to join before they can post group items. This group can only be edited by SAP Jam administrators and group administrators. The group name, members, content, and description are not visible to anyone who has not been invited to join the group.

Group Admins of a Private SAP Jam Group can provide users with the URL of the Group, and allow users to request to join. This can be done by going to the Private SAP Jam Group > Click Group Admin > Edit Group > Under General Tab click the option "Allow others to request to join this group".

Once this option is enabled, a new text box will appear showing the URL of the Private SAP Jam Group. The admin can then share this with users who they believe may be interested in accessing this SAP Jam Group

Users can then search the URL in SAP Jam and request to join the SAP Jam Group.
