2497829 - HTTP port for Java instance cannot be used due to error "Address already in use"

Symptom

  • HTTP port like 50200 is configured for Java instance correctly.

  • Portal still cannot be accessed due to following error:

    This page can’t be displayed
    •Make sure the web address http://<host>:50200 is correct.
    •Look for the page with your search engine.
    •Refresh the page in a few minutes.
  • There is following error in defaultTrace (under usr/sap/<SID>/<Instance>/j2ee/cluster/server<X>/log) 
    Cannot open HTTP server socket on port 50200. Check port for usage by another process. java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind (local host unknown, remote port 50200 to address 0.0.0.0) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketBind
