2497861 - Start of UME service failed - The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed

Symptom

  • You have modified/uploaded a datasource XML file in the UME
  • NW AS Java fails to start since then
  • std_server and defaultTrace files show the following error:

CSN Component [BC-JAS-SEC-UME], DC Name [sap.com/com.sap.security.core.ume.service]
com.sap.engine.frame.ServiceException: Start of UME service failed. Check help topic "Start of UME Service Failed". Technical details: The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed.
