Symptom
Absence deduction amount is incorrect when created via import but is deducted correctly if taken using Time Off absence form
Example: HR Administrator creates 4 hours absence on behalf of an employee via import but absence duration shown in Time Off Overview is 8 hours

Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Time Off
- v12 / People Profile (PP3)
Reproducing the Issue
1. Go to Manage Time Off page of the employee then submit 4 hours absence on behalf of the employee. Absence duration is calculated properly as 4 hours.
2. Go to Admin Center > Import and Export Data then import 4 hours absence for the employee using the import template with the following values. Absence is taken as 8 hours instead of 4.
Cause
Employee time import quantity columns (deduction quantity and quantity in days/hours) are filled.
If these columns are filled, system calculates the absence duration based on the planned working hours defined on employee's work schedule.
Resolution
For employee time imports, use Fraction Quantity instead to define the duration of the absence.
Deduction Quantity and Quantity in Days/Hours should NEVER be filled as these will be calculated by the system automatically.
For best practices on importing employee time, see KBA 2386922.
